Winner—German Design Award 2026

Looklen Architects is honoured to receive the German Design Award 2026 in the category of Excellent Architecture — Fair and Exhibition, for our pavilion design “The Raw Line”, commissioned by S-ONE Group Co., Ltd. for ASA Expo Thailand 2025.

The German Design Award is the international premium prize of the German Design Council — one of the most respected design honours globally. In 2026, the award received more than 3,900 entries from 57 countries, with 52% of submissions coming from international participants. Only projects nominated by expert committees of the German Design Council are eligible to compete, with winners selected through a rigorous multi-stage jury process.

“The Raw Line” was conceived around a single constraint: no cutting, no drilling. Full-length 6.35-metre mil-finished aluminium members are interwoven and assembled without any alteration to the raw material, preserving their quality in full and allowing every component to be disassembled and reused after the exhibition. The result is a pavilion that treats sustainability not as an afterthought, but as the generative force behind its visual identity.

The jury noted that the project’s resource-efficient material strategy gives the pavilion a striking presence, and recognised the subtle elegance with which reusability, function, and architecture are seamlessly united — describing it as setting a powerful benchmark in exhibition design.
